 At least 18 people have died in a tragic accident involving cattle traders traveling from Sokoto to Lagos.

 According to the Kebbi State Police, 42 passengers who were injured in the accident were taken to Gwandu Hospital in the state, while 16 dead bodies were found.

 The state police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, said the accident happened when the driver of a truck carrying passengers and cattle from the Illela area of ​​Sokoto state veered off the road at Malisa junction, where the vehicle overturned.

 He said that this caused the death of 18 passengers while 42 others were injured.

 SP Nafiu Abubakar added that the Kebbi State Police Commissioner, Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, sent police officers to the area to take the injured to the hospital for treatment.

 The Commissioner of Police expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and urged the NURTW and NARTO groups and other road users to observe speed limits and avoid overloading and concentrate.  while driving.
