Latest News Gambian Vice President Dies In India
Gambia's Vice President, Badara Joof, has died in India.
The President of the country, Adama Barrow, announced the death in a message he posted on his Twitter page on Wednesday morning.
"Dear fellow Gambians, it is in a state of mourning and sorrow that I inform you of the death of my Deputy, His Excellency Badara Alieu Joof. He died in India after a short illness. May God bless him and grant him paradise," as Adama Barrow posted on Twitter.
However, the announcement did not reveal when he died, and whether he went to see a doctor before his death.
Badara Joof studied at the University of Bristol and his master's degree in English Literature from the University of London and in Economics from the University of Bath.
He started his government career as an English teacher at The Gambia College.
In 2014, the World Bank appointed Badara as an expert education officer in Senegal.
On February 22, 2017, President Adama Barrow appointed the deceased as the Minister of Advanced Education, Research and Science and Technology.
