The National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started the training of the staff who will conduct the 2023 elections in February and March.

He said that the commission took this training very seriously, given that the Chairman of the National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has vowed to ensure that the elections are conducted in a fair and acceptable manner, and in which the people will flock to vote.
Okoye added that this upcoming election is an election where technology will be used at the polling station.
He said that it is the duty of his office to advise the State Electoral Commissioners (REC) and election officials on the best ways to educate the public on issues related to the use of technology in elections. election time.
He added that on February 25 and March 11, Nigerians will elect the president, 109 senators, 360 members of the House of Representatives, 28 governors, and 993 members of the legislature.
He said that 93 million and 469,008 people have registered to vote, and they are expected to go out and vote on February 25 and March 11.
He said: "The 2023 election will be held based on the use of modern technology. INEC will use the BVAS in all 176,846 polling stations in the country.
"And INEC has tested these devices, that is, BVAS has confirmed their validity. Now they continue to be given the identification numbers of the voter registration card holders so that the numbers will be consecutive, even one after the other. one at election time."
According to Okoye, Section 47(2) of the Electoral Act mandates that no one shall vote without a BVAS verification.
He added: "There will be 707, 384 polling booths including their assistants. There will be 17,685 staff as election observers, and 9,620 polling and reporting officials. , then there are 530,538 polling booth security officers.
All of them are continuing to receive training to know the skills to work, while in a few days the training will continue to be given to the rest, he said.
