The Hisba Commission Legalizes the Marriage of the Woman Who Divorced Her Daughter's Boyfriend in Kano

The Hisbah Court of Kano State has rejected the opinions received regarding the marriage of the woman who married her ex-husband to her daughter in Ranó Local Government of the state.
PUNCH newspaper reported that a woman named Malama Khadija divorced her daughter's boyfriend.
The incident happened after the woman's daughter named A'isha refused to accept her suitor, which caused controversy as a result of which the Hisbah Board formed a committee to investigate the matter.
The committee that investigated the rumors on the marriage submitted its report on Tuesday evening.
Presenting the report, the chairman of the committee who is the deputy commander in charge of special operations of Hisbah, teacher Hussain Ahmed, stated that the committee found that the marriage was valid and fulfilled all the necessary conditions.
He explained that the woman named Khadija Rano was divorced by her ex-husband, and she completed the three months (iddah) prescribed by Islam, and later she married a man whom her daughter had previously divorced.
Ahmed dismissed the rumors that Khadijah was thinking of marrying her new husband and pushed her husband to divorce her so that she could marry her daughter's suitor.
He also stated that marriage is legal according to the religion of Islam, where he said the reason why the commander of the Hisbah of Rano local government supported and legalized the wedding ceremony.
In response, the Commander-in-Chief of Hisbah Sheikh Harun Ibn Sina praised the committee for carrying out its duties properly.
He went on to say that the members of the committee were carefully selected because of their extensive knowledge of Islamic teachings and understanding of the community.
Ibn Sina appealed to the public to avoid spreading false news and to avoid misunderstandings about issues related to Islam.
He also advised them to seek education, as Islam is a religion that excludes marriage and family life.
