Tinubu Urged Nigerian Governments To Go To Court And Stop The CBN's Resolution Banning The Use Of Old Money.
The presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu hailed the 36 governors of Nigeria for their efforts to go to court and their success in court prevented the central bank from continuing to impose the law against the use of old money.
Tinubu said the governors, especially the APC governors who filed the case, have shown jealousy and compassion for the poor in preventing this process from bringing hardship and suffering to Nigerians.
This is contained in a press release issued today by Bayo Onanuga, the Director of Publicity of the APC Campaign Center.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday responded to the appeal by the states of Zamfara, Kaduna and Kogi in their case to prevent the federal government from continuing with the decision to ban the use of old N200, N500 and N1000 currency notes on the 10th of February. .
After the court decided to suspend the CBN in this resolution, Asiwaju Tinubu said that the Governors have saved Nigeria and Nigerians from the dire situation that the program has put them in.
Tinubu also said that this decision of the High Court is the same as the IMF's statement that the Central Bank has increased the amount of money it has invested due to the lack of bills that it is facing across the country.
Tinubu Advises CBN To Allow Old Currency Co-Exist With New Naira Notes
"I support the efforts of the Nigerian Governors, especially the APC Governors, and their efforts to save Nigeria from the confusion that could throw the country into crisis.
"Our country is about to fall into chaos and chaos, but the Supreme Court saved the country and showed compassion and mercy to the poor people of Nigeria. For that, we are grateful to the High Court and the judges who made this decision.
"Now is the time for the federal and state governments to sit down to come up with a suitable plan to launch this system of financial reform without putting the citizens in trouble.
"The countries that are doing this kind of currency change spend a long time like one year to make sure that the citizens manage the currency change carefully. It's not like the CBN wants to do its own system like wildfire.
"No matter how quiet it is, if we don't have a good plan in launching it, it will put the country in trouble and hardship. We must work hard to restore the country's image of a city.
"The main reason why I am running for the presidency is to bring ease and prosperity to the citizens in peace and not to oppress those who don't.
Asiwaju called on the central bank, the CBN to confirm
1. There are enough old documents to convert to the new currency.
2. He brought some measures to raise public awareness, on the benefits of this resolution.
