Alhassan Ado Doguwa I'm Prepared To Face Trial

Alhassan Ado Doguwa I'm Prepared To Face Trial

"I'm not involved in any shootings on election day,"..... claims.

The majority leader of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Alhasan Ado Doguwa, has asserted that he was not involved in any shootings that took place during the most recent presidential and National Assembly elections in Kano State and that his political adversaries planned the homicide trial that was held against him there.

Doguwa, who is being detained in a Kano jail on remand, said he doesn't possess a pistol and has no training in using one.

His troubles, he stated to our reporter through one of his media assistants, were associated with his electoral success on February 25, 2023, a Saturday.

He believes that because his side of the story is not being heard and he is going through a "unfair media trial," he is feeling tremendously discouraged.

"There is a lot of misinformation being spread, and when I hear what they are saying about me, I feel terrible. No one was interested in hearing my side of the story since my opponents had taken over the media with their propaganda. It's awful beyond words.

The storage facility where I kept food items intended for distribution to people in my constituency as a palliative to ease the hardship caused by currency scarcity was looted, and my Guest House at the Kwankwasiyya Estate was isolated for vandalism on the day Kwankwaso came to Kano a few days before the election, according to Doguwa. My vehicles were also burned at Filin KASCO in Tudun Wada.

"I reported all of this to the DSS and the police, but nothing has been done to date.

Remember that Nura Dankadai, a political rival of mine who initiated the petition that resulted in my detention, is related biologically to the DCP CID who made the arrest and has been leading my investigation and prosecution.

"Take note that this was the first election I won in Tudun Wada, and we heard rumors that some NNPP members planned to destroy the INEC building, which was close to Kwankwasiyya's local government office. I realized that their goal was to thwart my election triumph in Tudun Wada. We hurriedly informed the Area Commander and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the local government.

"We were with the police when the NNPP boys arrived and started fighting with our supporters. Until the election results were made public and I was declared the winner, the INEC office was saved in this manner.

"They suddenly began spreading the rumor that I shot someone, and so on. I was taken into custody by the DCP CID in an incredibly quick manner.

It is crucial to highlight that the DPO, who was present when the altercation between our men and NNPP men occurred, and to whom we reported the intended arson, was not called.

The location of the policemen on the ground is not included in the investigation reports that are currently available. All they have are statements made by politicians on the opposing side. This prejudiced and one-sided report served as the foundation for the FIR that was filed against me.

In addition, as I mentioned before, one of the connected politicians' biological brothers is the CID's director. So far, he hasn't been impartial. He can never be perceived as being impartial.

Doguwa stated that the trial must be fair and that he is prepared to go to court.

"I follow the law,' I said. The law is not above me. I'm prepared to go to court, but I also want justice to be perceived to have been done as well. No one was the target of my gunshots.

"Did you know that the supposed victim of the shooting, who claimed to know me, was unable to recognize me during a parade of suspects? He said that the local government chairman was responsible for the shooting.“

This can only mean one of two things. He was either taught to mention my name even if he does not know who shot him, or he knew who shot and correctly identified the victim.

"I vow that I did not fire a gun at anyone, in the name of the All-Powerful Allah. I don't possess a gun and I'm not proficient with a firearm. The only time I've ever held a gun was during a ceremonial shooting at the commissioning of a military unit in Kano State as the Speaker of the House of Representatives representative.

The legislator is principally charged with murder and illegally carrying firearms, thus the cases should be heard by the state Supreme Court, according to a Kano-based attorney.

He questioned why the magistrate's court should have heard his case.

They intend to use the authority granted to them by a part of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) that allows them to hold him for a period of seven days and then prolong it for an additional seven days. But, in a number of situations, their powers have been ruled to be unlawful.

Now that a deputy commissioner of police is in control of the situation, why did they need to take him there? This raises the possibility that they were purposely trying to cast him as a witch.

"Furthermore, the FIR only includes an interview with his political rivals. There have been no security updates from the DPO or any other Tudun Wada-based security personnel.

Court Grants Reps Majority Leader Alhassan Doguwa N500 Million Bail

"It appears that Umar Dankadai, DCP CID, is content to rely solely on biased viewpoints.

The fact that the DCP and Nura Dankadai, the former commissioner for budget and planning who left his position to join the NNPP, are brothers really disturbs me. That bias was planned out. The entire incident may have been arranged to humiliate the lawmaker and deter him from participating in the upcoming gubernatorial election by keeping him out of the public eye. I believe it might be political persecution," the attorney who asked to remain anonymous stated.

Nevertheless, Bashir Yusuf Tudun Wuzurci, the attorney whose letter of complaint prompted Doguwa's detention, claimed that "we placed pressure on the police to take him before the court when we realized that there were efforts to free him.

"We recognized that although charges haven't been filed and witnesses have been secured, their case diary is ready. Remand proceedings are also permitted by the ACJL, so the magistrate's court isn't holding under the pretense that it can hear the case. On remand proceedings, it is based.

"Alhassan Ado Doguwa is fighting a serious plot to block him from emerging as the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the future dispensation," a political ally of the lawmaker informed our correspondent. This plot doesn't just target him personally. It is equally detrimental to Kano State overall. Some people want to end the possibility that our state will secure the fourth spot in the nation this time. It is regrettable.
