Argentina's forward, Lionel Messi, has become FIFA's player of the year after winning the 2022 best player award.
Messi was awarded the title during the awarding ceremony of the best players on Monday in Paris.
Messi beat his PSG team-mate and World Cup finalist Kylian Mbappe in the race to win the prize.
Similarly, he went ahead of Karim Benzema, the Frenchman who won the Ballon d'Or last year.
This is the second time Messi had won the FIFA Player of the Year award after the same one he won in 2016 when FIFA broke away from the organization that organizes the Ballon d'Or award in France.
The award is voted on by national football managers, journalists, and fans before determining the player who will win it, all those who voted believe that the captain of Argentina deserves to be noticed for his hard work in taking the World Cup home.

Messi scored 2 goals in the final match in which France, the holder of the cup at that time, lost to them despite 3 goals scored by Kylian Mbappe in the match.

Barcelona player, Alexia Putellas is the 2022 FIFA Women's World Player of the Year.
Also, Lionel Scaloni, who led Argentina to win the World Cup in Qatar, was the winner of the coach's award.
Scaloni won over Pep Guardiola - who led Manchester City to win the English Premier League for the sixth time and Carlo Ancelotti, who Real Madrid won La Liga, Champions Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Euro Super Cup.
