Nigerian Airlines Will Start Taking Off Before May 29, Says Minister of Civil Aviation, Senator Hadi Abubakar Sirika

The Federal Government has confirmed that the Nigerian-owned airline 'Nigeria Air' will start flying before May 29, 2023.

The Minister of Civil Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, gave this assurance during a meeting of stakeholders on civil aviation on Thursday.

He said the Federal Government is taking the necessary steps to overcome the problems brought by the indigenous airlines that went to court to stop the start of the flight.

The minister described the actions taken by the domestic airlines as unfair, adding that the Buhari government has supported the airlines more than other previous governments.

He accused them of hindering the establishment of a national trading company that would effectively create jobs and opportunities in the industry.

He said the Nigerian aviation industry is the only one in the world with unemployed professional pilots.

He said that 50 crew members came to him complaining of unemployment and that the crew should hire more workers and create more jobs.

He said that Ethiopian Airlines, which has been allowed to carry national cargo, has the expertise and is making a lot of profit that will add value to the Nigerian aviation sector.
