The EFCC has again prosecuted the son of the former PDP leader for fraud
Mamman Ali, the son of former PDP leader Ahmadu Ali, has been re-arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly stealing 2.2 billion nairas in gasoline subsidy.
According to the National News Agency (NAN), Mamman Ali was once more charged in court in Lagos together with Christian Taylor and Nasaman Oil Services Ltd.
They were accused of conspiring, breaking trust, lying to get money, using false documents, and 49 other things when they were indicted.
The individuals, however, refuted every accusation leveled against them.
Samuel Atteh, the EFCC's attorney, requested that the court establish a date for the case's hearing so that he could call witnesses to support the charges that his client's organization has brought against them.
But, Kolade Obafemi, the accused's attorney, requested that his clients be given bail by the court.
Yet according to the EFCC attorney, the most crucial aspect of this case is that the suspects show up in court to answer for their actions.
The accused must be in the custody of the EFCC until their formal bail applications are submitted, the judge said in the end.
The hearing was also postponed by the judge until May 30.
One of the accusations made by the EFCC against the defendants is that they conspired to obtain 750 million naira from the federal government by deceitfully giving it to Nasaman Oil Services Ltd. Nasaman Oil Services Ltd. claimed to have purchased the oil from the British oil company SEATAC Petroleum Ltd.
