What is your brief history and reason for coming to Lagos by bicycle because of Tinubu's victory?

My name is Gaddafi Musa, I am 26 years old. I graduated from the Federal College of Education in Zaria. I decided to travel for the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, so I chose to cycle from Funtuwa to Lagos to congratulate him on his victory in the 2023 election, and I fulfilled my promise despite the challenges I faced.

Did you not get any resistance when you decided to go to Lagos from Katsina by bicycle?

I had a lot of resistance because only four people gave me confidence, namely my father and mother and two of my friends, but many people made fun of me, wished me bad luck, and said that the bandits would steal me. me when I was traveling. But I thank God, I arrived safely in Lagos after a 14-day journey, although I have never been to Lagos, but I have been to Ogere town in Ogun State which is on the way from Lagos to Ibadan.

How was the trip?

I started my journey on the 26th of February after I voted for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the February 25 election. the election. I arrived in Zaria in Kaduna State in the evening, where I spent the night and continued my journey in the morning. I arrived in Rijana town in Kaduna State for two days there.

I met some members of the APC in Suleja, Niger State, when it was announced that Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu had won the election, which gave me more confidence and then I continued my journey to Minna. and Bidda and Mokwa, after I left the town of Mokwa in Niger State which is not far from the town where I faced a big challenge.

In the town, many people have gathered to welcome me, they are happy to say goodbye to me. When I left them, some young men on motorbikes followed me to the outskirts of the town, asking me who I am? Where should I go? When I told them my purpose, they insulted me and called me a fool, that I was wasting my time and energy on someone who doesn't even know me. . I had three phones with me, one of them was in my front pocket, and they put their hand in it and pulled it out. I didn't argue with them and continued on my way.

This is the biggest challenge I have faced. Then there is another challenge in terms of lack of bills, because when I started this journey I had to make sure I had enough bills in my hand and some in my bank account. My intention was to spend the night in the house of Dagaci or Mai Unguwa or the mayor, wherever I camped, but in the end that failed, because as soon as I landed in town I asked for a prince and he said he would not drop me off. because my journey is for politicians.

Some associate me with politicians, but many times I pay for the hotel I stay in, so my money runs out in a short time, and this makes me face a big challenge because when I go, I have to eat food sold by vendors. and the street food they don't accept transfers which forced me to go to shopping malls which I used to buy expensively. My bike tire has been patched not once not twice, when I patched a lot you changed the tire tube and I need money to do that.

There is a woman in Mokwa, Niger State, a member of the Igbo tribe, who sells bicycles. When I walked into her shop, when she saw me, she was happy and said that she had read my story in Social Media, where she gave money was bought for the tib and she paid the repairman to put the tib on the bike for me.

I was happy to meet her, and before meeting her in this part of Niger State when I patched up I went and bought the tube from a man, who in turn charged me more just because he understood that I was driving a bike It is because of Asiwaju, but I have no choice but to buy it.

And what surprised me is that when I got to Oyo state, I also patched, and I met a patcher on the side of the road. After patching me, he asked me to give him 500 Naira, I told him I pay 50 Naira if I am patched in North. He said that Oyo State is not the North, and I have no choice but to pay him 500 for one patch only, and that was done until I paid. This thing surprised me.

Did people stop you when you were walking?

Yes, people were following me, taking pictures with me, and when I arrived in Ibadan, many journalists were with me, because I had already talked to some journalists in Oyo who broadcast the news of my arrival. at the radio station. That's why every time I pass the main roads, people greet me, because they heard the announcement of my arrival on the radio.

When I arrived in Ibadan, journalists from NTA and others waited for my arrival, and I interviewed them. let me go I tell them that I have a long way to go. I also entered Lagos on Sunday, March 14.

What happened after you arrived in Lagos?

Although I spent 16 days in Lagos without seeing Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, after all my efforts failed, I still do not regret the trip and I am still confident that I will meet Tinubu.

My wish is to meet him, if I see him I will give him the gift of the bicycle that I used for the trip, and tell him to look into the situation affecting Nigerian youths. Because I did this journey for the sake of the youth of Nigeria and my state Katsina. Because I want to create opportunities for the youth of this country to get jobs and self-reliance.

I have completed my NCE course at the Federal College of Education, Zaria, but I am unemployed. Most Nigerian youths are in this situation, and Katsina state has suffered from insecurity due to the activities of bandits. I want him to look at this, to consider it, that's why I want to see it. Also, in my last attempt to see him on the election day of March 18, I was stopped by some thugs in the Fela Shrine area and robbed me. I went to Tinubu's polling booth in Ikeja on the day of the election to see him when he came to vote, but I did not meet him. Even journalists are not allowed to talk to him.

On my way back to my hotel room on my bike, some thugs attacked me at the Fela Shrine area, where they took my phone and my bag. After I got the news that Tinubu had gone abroad to observe the progress I had made in Lagos, I decided to return home to Katsina to finish the fast I started in Lagos. After I get there, I will continue to try to see Bola Tinubu because I am not disappointed that we will meet.

What did you do with your bicycle, on which you returned home to Katsina?

On the plane I went back, and you know I can't get on the plane with the bike. Because there was a time when I met Fola Tinubu, the Director General of Tinubu's election campaign. After I met him on Wednesday March 22 and he gave me a warm welcome with his people, I gave my bike to him to deliver it to Tinubu, and he promised me that he would deliver it to him. On Sunday last week, I boarded a plane to Kano from Kano and finished Funtuwa.
