Ethnic conflict has caused deaths in Taraba
People think that a fight between Kuteb and Fulani herders in Ussa Local Government Area, Taraba State, killed a lot of people.
The Daily Trust newspaper said, "An eyewitness said that members of the Kuteb tribe accused the Fulani of attacking their people, which led to the deaths of some people and the kidnapping of others."
The witness said that because of this, the Kuteb people attacked the Fulani in Kwe Sati yesterday, which led to the fight spreading to Fikye town.
It is thought that a lot of people have died.
Emmanuel Ukwen, the leader of the Kuteb people, told Daily Trust that people from both ethnic groups had died.
He said that as the battle went on, people left the area, where many homes were burned down.
Reports say that the house of the Emir of Lisam Kwe, Ando Madugu, was burned down by angry young people who thought that he was helping the Fulani.
This week, Abershi Musa, the head of the local government in Ussa, quit. He said that the state government wasn't doing enough to stop the killings of people who didn't hear or see anything, and he blamed the Fulani for it.
Alhaji Bello, the head of the Miyetti Allah group in the local government, said he would not say anything about the situation right now when he was asked.
Also, SP Usman Abdullahi, who is the spokesman for the state police, wasn't there when his phone was called to talk to him about this.
