I will give more importance to security issues as soon as I am sworn in, said Mr. Dikko Radda

The governor-elect of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Radda, has said that security will be the main focus of his government, if he takes office from May 29, 2023.

He disclosed this to journalists on Friday after handing over the election certificate to President Muhammadu Buhari together with the outgoing governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari at the presidential palace in Abuja.

According to him, if there is no peace and security, there will be no progress.

He said, "Yes, I have often said that security is our priority."  This is what we will focus on because only when there is peace and security can we go to the farm, the school, the hospital, and even the market.

"Therefore, security is an important factor in the economic development of any nation.  Agriculture is one of the main sources of employment in our state and it is part of the life of our people, so we must provide security for our people.

"And we promised to involve the citizens and we promised to use modern technology to solve the security problem in my state."

Malam Dikko Raddda also said that he came to thank the president for the success of the APC party in the state.

“We want to start our work immediately after being sworn in as governor and deputy.  Therefore, I think we are doing everything now to make sure that we put everything in the right place so that we can reach the shore immediately after being sworn in."

When asked what advice the president gave him, Radda said: "The president used to give the advice to ensure honesty and trustworthiness in the government.

"And he always asked us to do justice to God Almighty in fulfilling our responsibilities.  You know you need to understand that apart from the questions from the press, apart from the questions from the people of Katsina State, Allah Ta'ala will ask you when you meet him.  So I think we will do our job well and we will make sure that we are honest and trustworthy to the people of Katsina as much as we can."
