Kaduna Government Reinstates Dismissed Teachers
The Kaduna government has agreed to reinstate more than one thousand primary school teachers it dismissed in June 2022 after conducting an examination to confirm their skills.
Hajiya State Ministry of Education spokesperson Hauwa Muhammad said this in a statement issued today Wednesday.
Hajiya Hauwa said that 1,266 teachers were tested for qualifications while 22 of them were removed from the government salary schedule.
NAN news agency reported that in June 2022, the Ministry of Education dismissed 2,357 primary teachers for failing to pass the examination.
The Punch newspaper also reported that the ministry explained that 2,192 teachers were dismissed for refusing to write the exam while 165 teachers were fired for not showing up.
Some of the teachers who were affected by the action complained that they wrote the exam and passed it and yet they were fired while others claimed that they were sick during the exam and submitted their certificates.
Some of the teachers said that they were kidnapped at that time, while others said that at that time they were suspended because of the process of verifying their documents.
