Lahore High Court Sets Hearing on Contempt Plea Against Chief Election Commissioner and ECP Members
The Lahore High Court will hear the CEC and ECP members' contempt complaint.
The Punjab Assembly elections, which were originally set for April 30, have been postponed. The Lahore High Court has scheduled a hearing for a contempt complaint against the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commission of Pakistan members.
Despite the LHC's directive to hold the polls within 90 days, attorney Muhammad Shahid Rana contends that the ECP breached the court order by changing the election schedule. The petitioner further claimed that the ECP changed the election date at PDM's request, which is considered contempt of court. LHC Judge Justice Jawad Hassan will preside over the hearing on April 3 (Monday).
