Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, calls a conference of allies to discuss the political situation and Supreme Court cases.
Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, has convened a significant gathering of allies to talk about the nation's political problems and legal issues, including cases currently before the Supreme Court. Leaders of the allied parties will develop a plan of action at the meeting, which will take place at the PM's residence in Model Town Lahore, to deal with the problems provided by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the ongoing judicial processes.
A dispute involving the postponement of the elections for the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies is now being heard by the Supreme Court. The PTI is contesting the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to postpone polls in the two provinces, which has sparked controversy. Two judges' disqualifications from the case caused the Supreme Court to repeatedly dissolve a five-member bench created to hear the plea, postponing all proceedings in accordance with Article 184. (3).
Despite the recusal of two judges, the PTI petition is currently being heard by a three-judge panel presided over by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and including Justices Ijazul Ahsan and Munib Akhtar. The current crisis worsened on Friday when the court also denied the government's bid to establish a full court.
Sources claim that because the PTI and Imran Khan are not seen as trustworthy individuals, the governing alliance is not eager to have a conversation with them. Instead, they are exploring the option of boycotting the Supreme Court's three-member bench sessions, which have been reduced from nine to three as a result of judges' recusals.
Quaid Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), will also attend the conference from London.
