The meeting of the countries of the Gulf of Guinea will bring peace and security to the region - Buhari

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, said that frequent meetings of the countries of the Guinea Sea region will help to create peace and improve the security of the region.

While speaking at the meeting of the leaders of the Gulf of Guinea region in Accra, the capital of Ghana, President Buhari emphasized that the meeting is very important in solving the problems affecting the region.

He said, "We must strengthen the meetings of the Gulf of Guinea region and the leaders of the region to have the opportunity to discuss our problems."

"And look for ways to solve them, to provide peace, security, and development of the countries of the Guinea Sea region", said Buhari.

The President emphasized the efforts made by Nigeria in fighting the activities of pirates in the Guinea Sea region while calling on other countries of the group to create laws that will prohibit piracy, as Nigeria has done.

The Nigerian president praised his Ghanaian counterpart, Nana Akufo-Addo, who chaired the meeting, for the way he led the meeting.

President Buhari also praised the outgoing general secretary of the group, Ambassador Florence Ukonga, and other leaders of the group for the sacrifice he said they made in carrying out the responsibility assigned to them to lead the group.
