The Nigerian government has given the Easter holiday

The Nigerian government declared Friday, April 7 and Monday, April 10 as public holidays for the Easter celebrations of this year.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Rauf Aregbesola, stated this in a statement issued by the Secretary General of the Ministry, Shuaib Belgore, on Wednesday.

The declaration required Christians in the country to imitate the characteristics of sacrifice, unity, forgiveness, mutual respect, love, peace and tolerance of Jesus Christ.

The minister also called on the country's Christian community to use the Easter season to pray for the country's peace and an end to the security problem the country is facing.
