Some people in Kenya have handed over the passport of South Sudan President Salva Kiir, who was lost in a plane crash in 1993.

The family kept the documents of the trip for thirty years along with the belongings of other passengers who were on the plane when the incident happened in the Baringo area in the northwest of Kenya.

The minister in charge of the presidential palace of South Sudan, Barnaba Benjamin led the delegation that received Mr. Kiir's travel document and handmade jewelry at a ceremony organized.

At the time of the accident, Mr. Kiir was the head of the army.

There were five people on board, including two Norwegian nationals, his lifeguards, the pilot, and a British citizen who lost his life during the crash.

When the incident happened, the villagers rescued the people who were still breathing and those who were stuck under the wreckage of the plane and took them to the hospital.

As part of the show of gratitude, the country's government said it will build a hospital in the village and name it after the army chief.

The place where the accident happened will become an important place in the country and will be turned into a tourist destination.
