Two people have been arrested for allegedly killing a pregnant woman in Kano
The police force in Kano state in the north of Nigeria has confirmed the discovery of the body of a 20-year-old pregnant woman abandoned on the side of the road in Anadariya village in Bebeji local government.
In a statement he published on his Facebook page, the spokesman of the state police force, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said that two people suspected of committing the crime have been arrested.
He said that the arrest happened as a result of the report filed by the residents of the area which made the state police commissioner, Mamman Dauda send his officers to the place where the incident happened.
The spokesman of the command revealed the name of the young woman Theresa Yakubu and said that the people suspected of killing her are her boyfriend and his friend.
The deceased's boyfriend confessed to the crime and said that he impregnated her and conspired with his friend to kill her after all attempts to abort the baby failed.
On his part, the police commissioner offered his condolences to the family of the deceased and assured the community that they will do everything possible to ensure justice.
He also asked the residents of the neighborhood to help with information that will lead to the arrest of other people involved in the incident.
