Why is it being fought in Sudan?
We have been hearing a lot of news about the ongoing fighting in Sudan for the past week, but why is there fighting?
The conflict that broke out across the country was the result of a power struggle between the leaders of the country's army.
Since the coup in October 2021, the government has been run by the Council of Generals.
The two forces involved in this dispute are:
General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who is the head of the army and the president of the country.
And his deputy, and the head of the RSF forces, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, better known as Hemedti.
They disagreed on the direction the country was headed, and the attempt to return to civilian rule.
One of the biggest sticking points is the plan to integrate the 100,000-strong RSF into the army - and who will lead the new force.
The fight between the two parties broke out after days of fighting when members of the RSF forces were redeployed in other parts of the country in a move that the army sees as a threat.
