Gunmen kill the Mopol Area Commander in Kebbi along with more than 30 others.

This comes after bandits killed the regional leader of Mopol officers, five of his officers, and about thirty people in Kebbi state on Sunday.

Because the issue is being brought up again, the joy that people in some parts of northern Nigeria felt when the security problem was fixed has started to fade.

Bandits killed more than thirty people, including six riot police officers, in some parts of the southern part of Kebbi state in the northwest, where they had been at war before.

Since Saturday night, a non-government security worker who asked not to be named for security reasons said that thieves have come from Yar Maitaba, Jambali, Mai Rairai, and Dan Umaru to the Danko Wasagu area. They met Banga and Mopol officers right away, who were led by Mopol's regional leader and went to help.

He said that as they got closer to the town of Dadin Duniya, they walked about a kilometer and saw about 210 motorbikes that belonged to criminals. Ibrahim Idris Sakaba, the regional leader of Mopol, and some of his subordinates were among the 34 people killed in the attack.

Alhaji Sani Bawan Allah, who lives in the town of Dan Umaru and saw what happened, quoted Harwayau as saying that the military security forces were called but did not come in time. Harwayau says that the thieves who did the attack were riding more than 200 motorbikes. God praised the brave Mopol commander of Bena who went to help them with more than thirty of his soldiers and other people.

The tragedy has scared the people in the area, especially in Bena town, which is their only safe place.

Even in the Shinkafi area of Zamfara state, where the officials were trying to solve the problem, some people were killed by bandits last Saturday. This shows that the lack of safety in some parts of Nigeria still makes it hard for people to fall asleep with their eyes closed.
