I am confident of winning in court - APC governorship candidate in Bauchi
Sadique Baba Abubakar, who is running for governor of Bauchi State as a candidate for the APC party in the 2023 election, has said he is sure he will win in the election hearing court.
Abubakar said that he had won the election and that he would be able to get the votes of his backers back from the court that was hearing the case.
Sadique told reporters in Bauchi on Monday, the day after he got back from a trip, that the country's court system had gotten better and that he had full faith in their ability to keep justice and the truth in the middle.
God is the one who can win. We know that there has been wrongdoing, and if God agrees, God will make sure that the rights of the people are restored. And we know that Nigeria's justice system is good because these people are honest and will stand up for the truth.
He said, "We are grateful to God (SWT) for giving us the chance to come back after we started this fight to make sure that the people's rights are restored and given back to them."
We're fighting this war, and if God helps us, we'll win.
He thanked the people for their prayers and good wishes, especially those they said they sent him while he was fasting. Then, he asked his followers and friends to follow the law until the court heard his case.
"I am confident that God will restore the people's rights because God knows what happened during this election. We have confirmed that the steps we have taken will bring out the things that are being sought to make sure that the people's rights have been restored," Abubakar said, adding that they will continue to demand their rights no matter what time of day or night they confirm that they have seized power.
"I want to tell our people that they don't have to keep going with the system that doesn't pay salaries, the system in which kids go to school in the country while huge offices costing billions of dollars are built, even though that's not the problem in the area.
When we went to the local governments and saw how well the people worked with us, we decided to keep fighting until the people's rights were returned.
If you remember, there were 14 different groups that ran for office in the contested election of 2023. INEC said that Bala Muhammad of the PDP party, who is the current governor, got 525,280 votes, while Sadique Baba Abubakar, who was his closest competitor, got 432,272 votes. Abubakar, on the other hand, went to court to fight the decision.
