The movie "Between Paya and Koulou" from Africa came out. launched
The long-running children's TV show about two African boys named "Paya" and "Koulou" is based on their story.
"Paya" and "Koulou" are two brothers and sisters whose story is told on a long-running children's TV show.
After the movie came out in Dakar, Senegal, it won two awards for its maker, maker Dramane Minta.
The movie was made in France, where it was released with the name "Entre Paya et Koulou," which means "Between Paya and Koulou" in Hausa.
The full-length movie is made up of 10 episodes that tell the story of two close brothers who often have problems with each other.
The movie will be shown at Pathe theater. There were movie stars, singers, young people, and even parents who brought their children to the opening of the movie.
From the decorations to the clothes to the setting to the way the story is told, the movie shows everything about Africa.
Lots and lots of laughter
In an interview with TRT Africa, the director of the film Dramane Minta said, "You know that the motion picture is an area of film that hasn't been explored very much, where anyone can take part and make an impact."My goal is to make a good movie that people in Africa will enjoy watching. This is how we can show the world the Africa we want them to see, not the Africa they think of."
During the movie, there was a lot of laughs and chilling out. Both kids and adults were happy from the start of the movie.
Samba Diop liked this movie so much that he went to the theater to see it. He told TRT Afrika that he came to see "Entre Paya et Koulou" with his two children. He told me that he likes to watch cartoon movies.
In fact, he is one of the people who have been watching the movie, since the maker, Dramane, is putting it out on the app WIDO, which allows people to always watch something.
It was the first program of its kind.
"It is a great honor for WIDO to work on this program with a young man like Dramane. It is very hard to make a moving picture."
"This is something new for us. Let's say we made a movie that was shown in a movie theater. This shows that there are places in Senegal that are ready to help young people with plans to make the cultural scene better. Said Mr. Diop.
On the part of Ms. Ndiaye, who worked with Dramane in the past. She tried to explain the director's strength by saying, "Minta, you know how this all started, and now we have seen success."
"But I think I found out about it early, a long time ago. I can tell you that he will continue to impress people with his ability. I wish him the best in his work as a movie director."
Dramane has worked with Ms. Ndiaye, the owner of a film business, for a long time. She said that working together in this way gave her a lot of happiness.
Also, making "Between Paya and Koulou" gave the director a chance to work with industry experts and other people, like Stanislas Gomez, who is an expert in sound design and video editing.
She told TRT Afrika, "We have never seen a movie like this before.
But in the past, we worked with Dramane to make a short film called "Rama and Aisha" that helped children learn how to wash their hands during the Covid-19 outbreak.
Paya's voice in "Between Paya and Koulou" was done by Othniel Ogoussan, who was 11 years old at the time.
The boy said, "I want to work as a voice actor in movies. I've never done this kind of work before."
Dramane Minta has made movies like "Rama and Aicha" (2021), "Coco laye laye" (2019), "Touche Pas" (2015), and "Oh My Mind" (2020) in the past. And he went to festivals of film and arts.
"Between Paya and Koulou" is getting a lot of attention. In 2023, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, he won the top prize at FESPACO. Then, in Canada, he won the Vues d'Afrique contest.
Dramane Minta used these awards as a way to give himself more drive. He said. "There needs to be more going on in the movie Paya da Koulou. When you hit a certain level, you know you haven't done anything wrong. You have to do what the watchers and fans want".
After the first 10 episodes of "Between Paya and Koulou" came out in theaters and on video-viewing software, the director is now working on the 20th episode. This will make people think and teach them something.
