A 21-year-old man is being held because the Nigerian and Hungarian police forces worked together to catch him on charges of internet theft.
George Gift Ikata, a 21-year-old from Abua local government in Rivers State, was arrested for making web software that is used to scam outsiders, especially Hungarians.
In a statement, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a police spokesman, said, "The force received a notice from the Hungarian Police on July 15, 2022. Some online business owners are said to have lost tens of thousands of dollars to the fake website AMC Stock Experts.
"After getting this information, DCP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, who is in charge of the NCCC, sent officers who specialize in cybercrime and private assets to the scene.
"Because of the command's work, George Gift Ikata, a 21-year-old from Rivers State's Abua local government, was taken into custody." who lives in Rivers State's Iwofe. He only made the website to steal money from people on the internet.
