The rebels of the UFPR in the Republic of Niger have laid down their weapons

Since three years ago, the UFPR has been attacking in the northeast of the country.

A rebel group in the Republic of Niger that had been striking the areas near the border with Libya has put down its weapons.

At a news conference on Monday in Yamai, the capital of the country, the group called UFPR said this.

Mahmoud Sallah, the leader of the group, said that they made the choice after meeting with Mohamed Bazoum, the president of the country.

He also said that they were sorry they had taken up guns in the past, and they promised to stop the insurgency.

Since three years ago, the UFPR has been attacking in the northeast of the country.

Sallah said that they started it because they thought the government was using the country's mineral resources to meet the wants of a small number of people.

But at Monday's press meeting, he said that they are now happy with how the country's government is run.

On June 15, 2022, UFPR began its first attack in the Jado area of the state of Diffa. One gendarmerie security officer was killed and three others were hurt.
