 Tinubu's promise to civil servants

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will be the next president, has promised workers that they will have a better life under his rule.

He told them that he would pay them more than the minimum wage so they could take care of themselves and their families.

He also said that when his government takes office on May 29, 2023, it would be the workers' best friend.

In the Labour Day message he wrote and signed this year, he said these things.

Tinubu told the country's workers through the National Labour Union (NLC) and the Trades Union (TUC), "Once he becomes President of Nigeria on May 29, the workers will make more than the minimum wage. You'll make more than the minimum wage so you can take care of yourself and your family. Under my guidance, all Nigerians, including workers, will have the freedom to fight against social and economic injustice.

"I'll fight for you always, and your fight will be my fight."

 I want to make Nigeria a better place by putting the welfare and good working conditions high on the list of my government.

Since I was born, I've made a promise to try to make workers' lives better.

Tinubu called for workers to work together and told them, "In the coming days, there is a need for mutual understanding and cooperation from all sides, because the leadership wants us to take strict measures so that our people and Nigerian workers can have a good life."

The President-elect asked for the help of all Nigerian workers, and he asked them to work with his new government to fight against poverty, illiteracy, diseases, disunity, ethnic and religious diversity, and anything else that could threaten the country's peace and unity.

Tinubu said that Nigerian workers did a great job of building the country.

He said, "This year, I celebrated International Workers' Day with my brothers in other countries." In most parts of the world, today is a big day.

 It is a day to thank and honour the workers whose hard work and sweat keep pushing humanity forward.In many ways, this day is very important. It is a day that came about because of the fight for the economic and social rights of workers. Since 1891, people all over the world have been celebrating this day.

"Every May 1 is a special day in Nigeria. It is a day of rest for the whole community, and we don't do it to remember the work and sacrifices that workers have made for the growth of our country.

It was a day to honour workers' rights and protect their respect, fair wages, and a good life. Most importantly, it was a day to show how important trade unions are to keeping our country together.

"Since the train workers and 16 other public sector unions led the first strike in 1945 to get better pay because of the high cost of living, the trade union in Nigeria has always worked for the poor people in our country.

It's not surprising that the group gave the fight for freedom a boost by working with patriots like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Herbert Macaulay, Ahmadu Bello, Obafemi Awolowo, Ernest Ikoli, and Anthony Enahoro, among others.

"At the same time we were fighting for freedom in Nigeria, a trade union was started there. 

After almost two years of military rule, the Nigerian Trade Union and its affiliated groups, such as NUPENG, Tedtile, PENGASSAN, etc., joined forces with leaders and groups working for the return of democracy in Nigeria in 1999.
