One of the methods to generate money as a student in Nigeria is to obtain a scholarship. Tuition and other school expenses are covered through fully financed undergraduate scholarships.


In Nigeria, there are numerous opportunities for undergraduate students to receive scholarships. The problem, though, is that not many students are aware of these awards or are aware of how to apply for them.


Your parents' financial strain from your school expenses will decrease if you receive a scholarship. In school, some Nigerian students may receive up to five (5) scholarships.

NNPC/Total Undergraduate Scholarship

Successful applicants receive annual scholarship grants from the NNPC/Total undergraduate scholarship from the year of the award (first year or second year) until they finish their degree program.


Requirements

Students from the following groups are ineligible to apply for the scholarship program:

Students with a less than 200 score in UTME need not apply.
Students with less than 2.50 CGPA on a 5-point scale or equivalent
300-level students and above need not apply
Current beneficiaries of similar awards from any other Company or Government Agency need not apply.


Exxon-Mobil Undergraduate Scholarships

The NNPC/MPN JV scholarship aims to improve a potential feeder pool of employable candidates into the corporation while also supporting the Federal Government of Nigeria in the training and development of medium and high-level people for the nation.

Although a few of the applicants were successful in the company's recruitment drive following graduation, ExxonMobil is under no obligation to offer the awardees employment upon completing their education.


Requirements

Possess the SSCE or its equivalent, with a minimum of six subjects successfully completed in one sitting.
Applicants must be enrolled full-time in their first or second year of undergraduate education at any Nigerian university.
Students who already receive similar scholarships from other oil and gas corporations should not submit an application.
This scholarship is not available to dependents of Mobil Producing Nigeria, Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc, or Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited personnel.


Agbami Scholarship

Jim Ovia Foundation Scholarship


In 1998, the Jim Ovia Scholars Programme was established. To support deserving Nigerian youths financially, Mr. Jim Ovia entirely sponsors the organisation.

The award was once called the MUSTE scholarship.

The recipients of eligible awards receive tuition and living expenses paid for the duration of their programmes of undergraduate and graduate studies.

A completed online application is a requirement.

NNPC/Addax Petroleum Scholarship

In accordance with its commitment to corporate social responsibility, Addax Petroleum Development (Nigerian) Limited (APDNL), the manager of the NNPC/ADDAX Production Sharing Contract (PSC), invites properly qualified candidates from its host communities to apply for the Host Community Tertiary Scholarship Scheme.

Requirements

In order to be eligible, applicants MUST be:

Undergraduates enrolled full-time in Nigerian tertiary institutions

100-level students who were certified at the time of application

The award will only be given to OND students for two years.

PTDF Scholarship

To satisfy the needs of the oil and gas industry, the Federal Government's Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is charged with building indigenous human capability and petroleum technology.

Requirements 

Before applying for the scholarship, candidates must have a National Identity Number (NIN).

Please be aware that before moving forward with your application, you must validate your NIN (NIMC verification fees apply).

Applicants who have previously received a PTDF scholarship cannot apply for a degree in the same or a lower category.

Application is limited to Federal Universities and for certain courses only. Applicants who are recipients of any other scholarship are not required to apply.

All applicants must be in possession of a valid admission letter to the university.

The Alex Otti Foundation  Scholarship

Through educational possibilities, the Alex Otti Foundation Scholarship Programme seeks to empower young people.

It is intended for exceptional people who have shown promise as future leaders in Abia State.

The project aids students in Nigerian tertiary institutions run by the government in reducing the cost of their education.

Requirements

students enrolled in any government-owned postsecondary school in Nigeria's second year (200 Level).
The candidate's first academic session, or first year, must have had a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 for universities (or its equivalent for other tertiary institutions).

Beta Sigma Excellence Scholarship

In 2021–2022, Beta Sigma will award further scholarships in collaboration with UNN–USA.
Beta Sigma is a University of Nigeria undergraduate and graduate-led social, cultural, philanthropic, national, and international service organization committed to serving the local community and the country.

Requirements

Students must have successfully completed one academic year at the university with a GPA of 4.0 or better in order to qualify. Beta Sigma members and their family members are not permitted to apply.

Applications are encouraged from all qualified students.

NLNG Scholarship


Nigeria LNG Limited promotes education through a number of programmes. It includes scholarships.

A four-tiered scholarship scheme offered by NLNG encourages excellent performance and provides funding for human capital development, ultimately creating a pool of highly qualified students, graduates, and professionals who have a competitive advantage.
Each recipient will get an annual scholarship award worth N150,000 for the duration of their education.

HillCity Foundation Scholarship

Scholarships from the non-profit HillCity Foundation are available to students in Nigeria.

The purpose of the scholarship award is to sustainably advance and benefit young people.

Requirements

The following criteria must be met in order to apply for a HillCity Foundation Scholarship.

A CGPA of at least 4.0

MTN Foundation  Scholarship


An annual scholarship program called MTN Scholarships under the Youth Development Cause aims to identify and honor deserving, top-performing students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions:

All qualified 300-level students enrolled in science and technology-related courses at Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education) are eligible for the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship. If they retain the necessary grades, 300 successful students will get scholarships worth N200,000.00 per year till graduation.

Shell Nigeria Students Scholarship Schemes

Guinness Scholarship for Nigeria


Guinness Nigeria's learning for life programme has given the company a platform for more than ten years to promote youth development in its host communities in the states of Lagos and Edo.

Twenty students who were recipients of the programme (who came from our host villages) had their tuition paid for in the previous fiscal year thanks to Guinness Nigeria.
One of three scholarship programmes Guinness Nigeria uses to help young Nigerians is the undergraduate scholarship programme.

Guinness Nigeria also provides young school dropouts with a technical training scholarship so they can attend the Institute for Industrial Technology (IIT), Isheri Lagos State.

This scholarship supports our company's dedication to providing young Nigerians with the technical abilities they need to pursue lucrative engineering jobs (it pays the whole tuition for a three-year Electromechanics programme).

Oriental Energy Resources Limited Scholarship


The oil business, which operates offshore in Akwa Ibom State, primarily targets scholarship candidates from the Effiat and Mbo communities as well as candidates who are natives of other Local Government Areas of the state.

Applications must be done online and are only open to 200-level students who are currently enrolled in undergraduate courses at a Nigerian university that has been granted recognition.

Program for the Seyi Bickersteth Scholarship

For the Seyi Bickersteth Scholarship Programme (SBSP), the Seyi Bickersteth Scholarship Fund, in collaboration with KPMG, Andersen, and Leadway Assurance Company Limited, seeks appropriately qualified applications.

The fellowship is named after Seyi Bickersteth, who held the position of Chairman of KPMG Africa from 2014 to 2016 and Senior Partner of KPMG in Nigeria from 2002 to 2016.

Requirements


Candidates must fulfill the requirements listed below:

A minimum of 5 Distinctions (As and Bs), including English and Mathematics, from their WASSCE.

Additionally, SSCE scores for students cannot be more than two years old.
A Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score of at least 230.

Candidates must be accepted into a Nigerian Federal University.

Candidates must have completed a four-year programme in Actuarial Sciences, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Accounting.

Students who have been accepted into the 100 level of their studies at the time of application are eligible for the Seyi Bickersteth Scholarship Programme. Students who attended Nigerian public secondary schools or private secondary schools (where the student obtained financial aid to attend) are eligible for the scholarship.

Only students who are not enrolled in a scholarship programme right now are eligible.

Stanbic IBTC University Scholarship


The scholarship program carries on our mission, which has been supported over the years through a variety of initiatives, including the Children Leadership Series (YLS), the Higher Institution Football League (HIFL), and others, to support the hopes and dreams of Nigerian children.

Undergraduate Nigerian students are encouraged to work hard and achieve academic distinction through the scholarship programs. Students who took the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and were accepted into any state or federal university in Nigeria are eligible to apply.
