 Nkem Owoh's Nigerian Comedian

Nkem Owoh is a Nigerian comedian and actor. He earned the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2008 for his performance in the Nigerian film "Stronger than Pain."

Nkem Owoh was born in Nigeria's Enugu State. He attended the University of Ilorin after finishing primary and secondary school. Owoh began acting in numerous television and film productions during his university studies.

Owoh made an appearance in the 2003 film Osuofia in London. He is also known for singing the song "I Go Chop Your Dollar" about advance fee theft. The song appears in the film The Master, in which Owoh plays a con artist. The song was prohibited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission.

Owoh was arrested in Amsterdam, Netherlands (Bijlmermeer neighborhood in the Amsterdam Zuidoost district) in 2007 as the conclusion of a seven-month Dutch police investigation entitled "Operation Apollo."

When police raided the gathering and arrested 111 persons on suspicion of lottery fraud and immigration offenses, Owoh was playing a musical concert. Owoh was later freed.

Owoh was kidnapped in eastern Nigeria in November 2009. His kidnappers sought a ransom of 15 million naira. Owoh was allegedly released after his family members paid a 1.4 million Naira ransom.
