Officials in Russia said that early this morning they shot down a drone in the center of Moscow.

Witnesses said they heard a loud bang at the scene.

According to reports, the photos shared on social media, which have not been verified, show how smoke filled the sky.

The mayor of the city, Sergei Sobyanin, said that buildings were destroyed five kilometers from the Kremlin.

The Russian Defense Ministry said Ukraine carried out the attack, although no one was injured.
