Luisa Gonzalez won the first round of the presidential election in Ecuador
While more than half of the votes cast in Ecuador's presidential election were counted, presidential candidate Luisa Gonzalez won the first round with more than 33 percent of the vote.
Following her, is the businessman Daniel Noboa Azin who got 24 percent of the votes.
Now the second round of the election will be held next October.
The elections were held after the current president, Guillermo Lasso, dissolved the National Assembly to prevent him from being impeached.
The country's election campaign was conducted in an atmosphere of violence and gang violence.
Most of the candidates in the election wore bulletproof vests and bowler hats when they went to vote.
