Manchester United have fired Mason Greenwood from the club after completing an investigation into the player.
Charges against the 21-year-old, including attempted rape and assault on February 2, were dismissed.
An announcement was expected to be made before Monday's Premier League game against Wolves but has been delayed.
Now the player will not play for the team again and the lawyers of the team and the player will sit down to cancel the player's contract.
The decision on Greenwood's future now rests with the club's chief executive Richard Arnold - and is currently in the final stages.
