Nigeria has arrested a group of donkeys that were planned to be taken abroad
The Nigerian Customs Service has seized a collection of donkey hides and fish bones valued at N1.23bn at the Lagos airport which were intended to be exported to China and Hong Kong.
A statement issued by the agency on Thursday, said that he did not see the private parts of the donkeys and managed to seize some illegal items.
The commander of the agency in the state, Muhammed Yusuf, said that a Chinese citizen took the genitals of the male donkeys from Abakaliki town in Ebonyi state with the intention of taking them to his native land.
"Donkeys are endangered animals, so we started to think about why they came from this area," said the statement of the agency.
He said that if proper action is not taken, donkeys will end up in the land. The agency said the Chinar was arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
Regarding the sharks that were caught, the agency said that investigations are ongoing to find out from where they were brought because there are not enough species of sharks in the Nigerian sea.
On the other hand, the agency said that from January to July 2023, it had revenue of N47.24bn.
