Some bandit attacks have killed many people in Plateau State
Authorities said more security forces have been deployed in the area
Reports indicate that 135 people were killed during some attacks by bandits in some villages in Plateau State on Sunday.
The attackers armed with motorbikes attacked at least four villages in Kanam Local Government, where they kept shooting people, burning houses and stealing cattle.
There is still no detailed information from the authorities in the state about the attacks.
However, a traditional leader in the area told the BBC that 54 bodies have already been found in Kukawa village and 34 bodies in Gyambau village.
Data show that among those killed are children and young people.
Many people went missing as a result of the attack while hundreds of people were displaced from their homes.
Residents of the area alleged that it took almost a day before the security forces came to their rescue.
They added that these are the worst attacks that have ever been carried out in the region.
Authorities said more security forces have been deployed in the area.
He added that thirty one people were killed in two villages.
At least 16 giants were killed in Shuwaka village.
