 The Ghanaian trade union is against sending troops to Niger

The largest trade union in Ghana has warned against the use of military force to end the coup d'état in the Republic of Niger.

The organization confirmed that diplomatic methods can bring back the rule of law in Niger as long as the leaders of the Economic Development Association of West Africa (Ecowas) negotiate with the military government in the right way.

The secretary-general of the trade union, Yaw Baah, said, "We truly believe that any attempt to force the military government led by Tchiani in Niger will worsen the situation and insecurity in the region."

The Ecowas group in West Africa has expressed the possibility of taking military action against the military government that overthrew President Mohamed Bazoum.

While the military government has announced its intention to hand over power to civilians within the year, the Ecowas group has rejected this proposal.

In response to the coup, Ecowas imposed sanctions on Niger, which affected the economy of neighboring countries, such as Ghana.

Ghanaian traders have revealed the challenges they face in importing vegetables, especially onions from Niger, which has led to a sharp increase in the price of goods.
