Security forces in Bauchi state in the northeastern region of Nigeria have managed to rescue more than 30 people from the hands of forest bandits who kidnapped them.

The head of the Gujin Duguri village of Alkaleri local government where the people came from, told the media that the people were rescued without being injured, after an exchange of fire between the security forces and the battalion.

According to reports, the bandits kidnapped more than 30 of their people near the Yankari forest near the border connecting Bauchi, Gombe and Taraba states before they were rescued on Saturday.

According to the head of the village, the security officers discovered the hideout of the bandits and where they were hiding the people they stole in the forest, the reason that made them prepare to attack them and succeed in saving the lives of the people who are in custody.

The bandits have harassed the people of Duguri where a resident of Dawa Sani is telling the media that from December last year until now he has paid a ransom of about 30 million naira for the ransom of his family who were being kidnapped by the bandits including the owner of his room and his only child.

Security problems continue to worsen in the 4 local governments of Bauchi which include Alkaleri, Toro and Ningi in addition to Tafawa Balewa as bandits attack villages and kidnap people to seek revenge.

Recently, the Governor of Bauchi state, Bala Muhammad launched a program to overcome the security problems that are trying to spread in parts of the country.
