India expelled a senior Canadian diplomat.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Delhi said that the decision it took shows what it calls more concern about the interference of Canadian diplomats in the internal affairs of India.

The announcement came hours after Canada's foreign minister announced that an Indian diplomat had been expelled.

The escalating diplomatic crisis centers on Canada's claims that Indian government officials may have been involved in the killing of Canadian Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia in June this year.

However, India called this allegation as foolish.

The United States expressed great concern over Canada's accusations against India and said it is very important to bring those who committed the crime to justice.
