 A young man killed his girlfriend for 5000 in Bauchi

A 19-year-old man named Mohammed Ibrahim, a resident of Sabon-Layi outside Bauchi city in Bauchi State, stabbed his girlfriend Emmanuella Ande to death after a dispute broke out between them over 5,000 naira.

Mohammed, who is now in police custody, met the deceased on social media before they met at a park in Bayan-Gari area in Bauchi.

The spokesperson of the Bauchi State Police, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday, said the accused also stabbed a 36-year-old Zaharadeen Adamu, who tried to save Emmanuella.

"This terrible incident happened when the victim demanded 5000 naira while the girlfriend asked him to pay some of the debts she owed him. the incident that caused her to be injured which led to her death.

"He stabbed his girlfriend Emmanuella Ande from Plateau State with a knife near her chest, at that time the girl screamed, the people who were there tried to help her, they opened the door forcefully, where the suspect also stabbed a knife to one of them.

"The police team rushed to the rescue and took the young woman to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi, where she was confirmed dead.

"Also, Zaharadeen was admitted and treated at the hospital and released. Currently, the matter is being investigated," said the spokesperson.

SP Wakil said that a knife was found in Mohammed's hand, adding that the investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be charged in court.
