The Colorado Supreme Court has barred Trump from running for office in 2024
The Supreme Court in Colorado has ruled that former President Donald Trump is not eligible to run for office in the state and cannot appear in the Republican Party's primary election next year.
The court said that because of what the former president did on January 6, 2021 - the day of the attack on the congressional building - Capitol hill - it was considered an attempt to revolt.
The Trump campaign called the court's decision undemocratic, and said it would appeal to the federal Supreme Court.
The decision will be suspended until the federal court makes its decision, but the election officials in Colorado said that there is a need to do the right thing before January 5, 2024.
The ruling did not prevent Trump from running for office in other US states.
