Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives Hon. Tajjudeen Abbass expressed his grief over the death of the former speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives in the 8th Republic, the late Hon Ghali Umar Na'Abba, who passed away early this morning, Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
Dr. Tajudeen described him as "an experienced politician who is dedicated to serving Nigeria and a true patriot".
He said that when Na'abba was the Speaker of the House "he ensured unity and stability in the House" where he led the members of that time to "take important steps that brought progress to democracy in Nigeria".
In grief, Dr. Abbass also recalled how many successes were achieved during the leadership of the late Na'abba in terms of laws that paved the way for the democracy that Nigeria enjoys today.
Dr. Abbas, who holds the post held by the late Ghali Na'Abba in the House of Representatives, said that the deceased was one of the most experienced members of parliament who served Nigeria in the Federal Parliament and encouraged the members of the parliament during his presidency in different parliaments. , for example, the success of the House of Representatives under his leadership in being the first and only one to challenge a presidential initiative that led to the establishment of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
After the end of his term in the Nigerian House of Representatives, the late Na'abba did not give up where he "continued to contribute to the field of democracy, a move that angered us and gave us confidence", according to the current Speaker of the House of Representatives. , Dr. Abbas Tajudeen.
He said, "Nigeria has suffered a great loss".
He also condoled with the government of Kano for this "great loss of one of its children" and prayed "May God bless him with mercy, make his life better and make paradise Firdausi his destiny".
