The Chief Minister of Abuja has described the acts of vandalism by some people in the city as a serious crime.


Dr. Mariya Mahmoud said this after visiting to witness the damage done in the storage of food.


On her page X, she published that: "I went to the food store in Gwagwa-Tasha to assess the damage they did on Sunday. This thing is more than hunger, it is a big crime!!!


What I saw was unpleasant, it was a situation where some people lived in vain and looted all the grain and other food items there...


A businessman who was interviewed by the BBC in the Karmo area of the city, said that people robbed him of food items at the warehouse in Karmo.


The man said that the incident that happened on Sunday cost him more than 100 million naira.


While the people who are in the neighborhood of the place explained how the burglars came with weapons including machetes, sticks and knives to break the barn.
