 Russia has threatened to expel American diplomats

The Russian government summoned the American ambassador to Moscow, its capital, and threatened to expel the American diplomats to show their rejection of Washington's interference in its domestic affairs.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia accused the United States of giving money to groups opposed to the Russian government to spread false news about the country's presidential election next month.

US Ambassador to Russia Lynne Tracy has yet to comment on the matter.

She was among the many diplomats who attended the funeral of opposition leader Alexei Navalny who died in prison.
