Soldiers killed a bandit in Katsina
The Nigerian Army has killed a forest bandit known as Maikusa, who is the deputy leader of a group of terrorists who are notorious for harassing people in Katsina state, Nigeria.
The one who heads the gang of robbers who is close to him, is better known as Modi Modi.
The troops said they shot Maikusa and three other terrorists in an exchange of fire on Monday, March 4, 2024.
The soldiers said that the clash took place while they were on their duty to put an end to the insurgency in Kurfi and Safana local governments in Katsinan state.
According to the army, they also managed to recover two AK-47 rifles, 65 rounds of ammunition, a handgun and military uniforms.
They added that they also destroyed the robbers' hideouts in the villages of Wurma, Shaiskawa, Yauni and Dogon Marke both in Kurfi Local Government and Ummadau and Zakka villages in Safana.
Katsina state is one of the northern states of Nigeria that have been suffering from the problem of bandits, kidnapping, and terrorist attacks that have resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives and a lot of property.
