 The police arrested 254 people on suspicion of kidnapping people in Nigeria


  The Nigerian Police Force says it has arrested 254 people in the past two weeks for allegedly committing crimes across the country.


In a statement issued by the spokesman of the force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, he said that the force has made significant progress in the fight against crime across the country.


"According to the efforts of the police force, they have succeeded in arresting 254 people who they suspect of committing crimes, including 92 robbers and 153 kidnappers, along with nine people who are suspected of working with secret societies," said the statement.


The statement said that the police also freed 35 hostages and recovered seven stolen vehicles.



In addition, the police also said that they recovered 44 guns with about 477 bullets and different guns.


The police force said it launched the operation in Plateau, Cross River and Taraba states and the federal city of Abuja.
