The United Nations expressed concern over the worsening situation in Haiti

The Security Council of the United Nations has expressed its concern over the deterioration of the situation in Haiti, which has been dominated by violence, while Washington is putting pressure on the country's Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, to see that the country's political crisis is resolved. Ecuador, whose ambassador to the United Nations José Javier De La Gasca Lopez-Domínguez called the meeting on Wednesday, saying that the situation in Haiti is very disturbing.

The United States called on the Prime Minister of Haiti, Ariel Henry, to conduct valid elections, without calling for him to resign - as in the important request made by the leader of the country's gang, Jimmy "Barbecue".

Henry, who has been in power since the assassination of President Jovenel Moise in 2021, was supposed to leave power in February, but he insisted that he reached an agreement to share power with the opposition until new elections are held.

The mastermind warned on Tuesday that the country will be shaken and lead to civil war as long as Henry remains in power.

Launch an attack

Last week, a group of militias in control of the country launched an attempt to topple Henry's government, attacking the airport, prisons and police stations and threatening to launch a war. country.

At least 15,000 people have fled the worst-hit areas of Port-au-Prince, and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said the situation was unprecedented, with 1,193 people killed across the country in this year as a result of the gang conflict.
