The brand confirmed on July 29 that the renowned show would return for another year. Victoria's Secret sparked excitement among followers with a sly tease on social media.
"Lights, Camera, Angels: The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2025 is returning," the brand announced on Instagram, alongside a video of a handful of the models tapping a microphone for attention. The video encouraged fans to visit the Victoria's Secret app for more secret information, albeit the app is currently only stocked with recaps from last year's show. VS promises more information shortly!
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show returned to New York City on October 15, 2024, with a host of original Victoria's Secret Angels and new models going down the runway.
Tyra Banks, Candace Swanepoel, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Jasmine Tookes, Taylor Hill, Gigi and Bella Hadid were among the returning stars, while newcomers included Alex Consani, Valentina Sampaio, and mother-daughter combination Lila and Kate Moss. Cher, Lisa of BLACKPINK, and Tyla performed during the event.
Victoria's Secret: The Tour '23, a documentary and fashion show hybrid event, premiered on Prime Video on September 26, 2023. Unlike previous years' runway shows, the special was filmed in Barcelona, Lagos, Nigeria, Bogotá, Colombia, London, and Tokyo, and followed a group of 20 artists as they created items for a fashion show part featuring models in Barcelona.
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will return in 2024, a few years after it was cancelled in November 2019, according to Stuart B. Burgdoerfer, chief financial officer and executive vice president of L Brands at the time (Victoria's Secret's parent company), who shared the news in an analyst call.
"We're figuring out how to advance the positioning of the brand and best communicate that to customers and that's among the things that [Victoria's Secret chief executive officer] John [Mehas] is focused on," Burgdoerfer told reporters.
The 2019 cancellation comes after former Chief Marketing Officer Ed Razek received criticism in 2018 for informing Vogue that Victoria's Secret has no intentions to hire trans or curvaceous models for the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
"Shouldn't you include transsexuals in the show? No. No, I do not believe we should. So, why not? Because the series is a fantasy. "It is a 42-minute entertainment special," Razek told the site.
Razek then pulled back his comments and apologised; he resigned from the brand in August 2019.
"My comment against the inclusion of transgender models in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show came across as insensitive. "I apologise," he stated. "To clarify, we would definitely cast a transgender model for the show. We have had transgender models come to casting. They, like many others, did not make it. However, it was never about gender. I applaud and respect their quest to accept who they truly are."
