Tottenham Hotspur agree seven-year contract with Xavi Simons but one important detail remains to be completed
Tottenham is getting closer to signing Xavi Simons to a big deal. The length of the contract has been made public now that talks with RB Leipzig are at an advanced stage.
Since news broke yesterday that Xavi Simons went to London to talk about his future, a lot has happened.
Tottenham Hotspur are now in the lead to sign Simons, even though Chelsea had already agreed to personal terms with the 22-year-old midfielder.
Reports say that Tottenham has agreed to pay RB Leipzig €60 million (£51 million), which puts them ahead of Chelsea for now. Chelsea has not yet made an official offer for the Dutchman.

Florian Plettenberg, a journalist for Sky Germany, has now posted on X about the full extent of the deal that Tottenham is trying to make with Simons this summer.
Plettenberg says that Xavi Simons has signed a seven-year deal with Spurs that will keep him with the team until 2032. He did, however, make it clear that the deal hasn't been officially signed yet, even though there is an agreement in place.
His post on X says, "Xavi Simons has signed a seven-year deal with Tottenham that will last until 2032." The contract hasn't been signed by Tottenham yet. "Tottenham."

The Spurs are still trying to finish the deal for Xavi Simons.
Paul O'Keefe, who knows a lot about Tottenham, also said earlier today that the team wants to finalize a deal for Simons before they play Bournemouth this weekend.
Simons is currently making €115,835 (about £100,000) a week at RB Leipzig. This amount fits well within Tottenham's current pay structure, even if the Dutchman wants a raise.
David Ornstein has said that all the personal terms have been agreed upon and a fee has been set with Leipzig. There is only a little bit of paperwork left to do before Simons can be confirmed as a Tottenham player. This is a deal to keep an eye on.
