9ice: I will have a tribal tattoo at the age of 50

Nigerian legendary artist 9ice, Abolore Adegbola Akande whose real name is Abolore Adegbola Akande has indicated that he will get a tribal mark when he is 50 in order to honor his late father.

This was disclosed by the 45-year-old musician in a video that recently spread around, where the musician explained his decision and its importance.

In a statement posted this year by Intelregion, 9ice said that he became a conservative worshipper.  He said this in an interview with the actress, Nancy Isime.  He explained how he converted to traditional spirituality as an outcome of a life threatening experience. He alleged that he had been abusing blood in a span of six months and that he had been advised by a friend to see an Ifa priest who later helped him to heal.

After recovering, I was sorry that I did not switch to traditionalist way of life earlier.  I am glad I turned out like I did," 9ice replied. The man in Gbamu Gbamu says that his father boasts about wearing a traditional tribal mark, which he would follow in turn as the tribute to his ancestors and family origins.

Nowadays, 9ice is practicing traditional worship, and as he mentioned the picture frame of his former father on the wall, he said, “It is my Oluwo.”  That's my dad, my Araba.  By the time I am fifty, I will have the same grade as my dad.  I would like to use my birthday doing that.

I will see; and many of my boys said I will not do that, said he. After announcing this, he was praised by many Nigerians as he was not afraid of his cultural identity in the era when the majority of the people did not want to be identified with any of the symbols that represented their culture.
