Jane Goodall's cause of death was revealed.

After more than two weeks, the reason of Jane Goodall's death has been reported. She was found dead in California while on a speaking tour.

A death document obtained by TMZ says that the famous zoologist and conservationist who spent her whole life studying chimpanzees died at the age of 91 from a heart attack.

The news source also said that the report said Goodall had epilepsy, but it wasn't clear if that brain disorder had anything to do with her death.

The Jane Goodall Institute said in a statement on October 1 that the famous primatologist and environmentalist had "passed away due to natural causes" while on a speaking tour in California. The University of California, Los Angeles, said Goodall would be giving a talk on Oct. 3. The statement went on to say, "Dr. Goodall's ethological discoveries changed the course of science, and she worked tirelessly to protect and restore our natural world."

Goodall's work completely changed how people thought about chimpanzees by showing that these animals can use tools, hunt, and even eat their own when they are angry. In 1977, she started the Jane Goodall Institute, which now has offices in more than twenty countries and safe spaces for animals in the Republic of Congo and South Africa.
During her lifetime, Goodall wrote more than 30 books, starred in and was the subject of many documentaries, and did voice work for The Simpsons and The Wild Thornberrys.

Among her many honours are being called a UN Messenger of Peace in 2002 and a Dame Commander of the British Empire the following year. She got the Presidential Medal of Freedom in January from Vice President Joe Biden.

Her son Hugo Eric Louis van Lawick, her daughter-in-law, and her three grandkids will miss her.
