A few weeks after her younger sister Ruth Otabor's funeral, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has defended reality TV star Phyna for her latest club performance. The video swiftly gained popularity and elicited conflicting responses on social media.
Shortly after graduating from Auchi Polytechnic, Ruth unfortunately died in a Dangote truck accident in Edo State in August. She was buried on September 13, 2025.
Phyna was spotted dancing with Regina Daniels and a few other people at a club party to her recently released single, "Bend Down," in a video that went popular on X and was uploaded by @chukserice.
Her choice to go out so soon, only weeks after her sister's death, shocked a lot of her followers. She was also called out by some people who said she didn't look like she was in grief and accused her of being carefree. Regina, however, defended her in the face of the internet criticism, stating that having fun does not imply that she does not cry in private.
Phyna had earlier accused Dangote Group of being careless and insensitive when it came to her sister's funeral and hospital arrangements. More recently, she chastised them for misleading her family and not giving them the money they demanded.
While some felt that the night out party was unsuitable at this time, others remind us that everyone grieves in a unique way and that there is no one "right" way to do it.
Phyna's activities continue to be scrutinised as the internet discussion goes on, garnering both praise and criticism from fans and onlookers.
