 'My mum told me I'd make a good comedian,' Lord Lamba says.

Lord Lamba, one of Nigeria's online comedy sensations, attributes his success to his mother. He claimed that his mother's encouragement made it simple for him to pursue a career in comedy.

The 25-year-old comedian is one of the most popular on Instagram and YouTube, with his sketches essentially using his alter persona Lord Lamba (literally "Lord of lies") to expose the lies men tell their girlfriends.

Born and raised in Lagos, the Anambra State native recently described his journey into the world of comedy: "Comedy was never a thing for me at first. I'd always enjoyed football, so that's what I was doing. Over time, I learned that whenever I was on the pitch and the coach was attempting to relay crucial information, I would make a joke about it and everyone would laugh. Even at home, anytime my mother spoke, I would make a comedy out of what she said, and everyone would laugh.""One day, my mother told me I could go into comedy because she thought I was good at it," he continued. I considered it and concluded that I was capable of doing so. Coincidentally, my football career was struggling at the moment."

Lord Lamba, real name Kelvin Anagbogu, studied Creative Arts, but his passion for comedy leaves little room for anything else in his life. "I love comedy," he said, "and I think this is something I'd do for a long time, but I'd also set up businesses on the side when the right time comes."

Meanwhile, has he found financial success through comedy? To a degree, he confirmed: for him. "By God's grace, I am doing fine."

He has gotten so successful that fans volunteer to appear in his skits for free.

"Some voluntarily approach me and request to be featured in my skits because they, too, need to build their profiles." "If I want to include someone in a skit, I pay for their transportation, food, and other expenses," he explained.
